NO SAND!!

The Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Hungary, and what I find to be a wonderful place to vacation and spend an afternoon.
Two days ago I took a trip with the Kántorék, the family I am living with, to the Balaton. We left Budapest at half past noon and arrived at the shore around 2. The beaches there are quite different from those of an ocean or another lake; there is no sand outside of the water, and therefore the beaches consist of only grass. Considering my dislike for sand's way of always getting into and on everything in it's path, I really enjoyed the beaches there. It was almost like having a picnic.
There, it is also a custom of eating when one visits the Balaton. It is a part of the "Balaton experience", whether you are hungry or not. So I ate part of a piece of breaded fish and some french fries. I also had a blast swimming, playing Canasta, and getting a lot of sun. I actually have, what I call, a tan! Surprise!
Overall, I had a splendid time.
Love,
Emily

  1. It's a great privilege to play canasta with a professional player - and obviously to have you with us. I like your blog, your vocabulary is so rich - especially compared to mine of course.
