Americans Again!

I spent the last two days with some American friends, Kristian Kiraly and Ian Thomas, who are traveling around Europe this summer. They stopped in Hungary for a few days and now are continuing on to Austria for a few more days.
They both graduated from St. Margaret's (my old school in CA) in 2009; I remember going to school with them and Judit was in the grade above them when she was there. We spent Monday seeing a few sights in the area and showing them around the city a little bit. We saw the Bazilika and again climbed to the top, but we also got to see the Buda Castle and the Mátyás Templom (which were new sights for me as well). Then last night we had dinner with them in a very non-Hungarian restaurant. We ordered pizza, but.... we did have palacsinta for dessert. Palacsinta are Hungarian pancakes, a bit like crapes, and you can fill them with some sort of fruit, jam, chocolate sauce, vanilla sauce, or túró (a type of sweet cottage cheese, but you really can't compare it to that or to anything American because it is completely different). I had sour cherries with túró rolled inside of the palacsintas and chocolate sauce poured over both pancakes. It was absolutely delicious.
Both of these experiences were so relaxing and easy for me. I seriously had forgotten what it was like to speak English with native speakers. So getting to do that again was just indescribable, but trully perfect.
With much love,
Emily
