The Kántorék own an apartment in the city of Budapest, but for the last couple years have been in the process of building a house in Kosd, a town located approximately a 30 minute drive north of Budapest. Ágota and Tamás (the parents) hope to move there officially after their youngest has graduated from high school which will leave the apartment to their children. It is a two story home but only the first floor is furnished. I find it absolutely beautiful, and very much like a place that I would want to live in some day.
When Judit lived with us she fell in love with our mailbox. So the next Christmas, after her return to Hungary, we sent her one of her own. They have now installed it in front of this house and are using it regularly. It was such an honor and surprise for me to see it there, and now I feel like a little piece of myself and of my family can always be with them no matter how far apart we are.
