Good-bye Michigan...Hello Amsterdam...Good-bye Amsterdam...Hello Budapest

Last night I slept for 12 hours after not having slept for 45 hours (except for a few power naps on the plane). It was beautiful.

Reasons for staying awake so long include:
- Trying to avoid jet-lag by sleeping during normal hours in Budapest
- I could not sleep on the plane because I had to take advantage of the personal TV... plus it is impossible to get comfortable in seats that small...am I right?
- I was just too excited to sleep!
- Once in Budapest we were playing Canasta, eating incredible food, and enjoying great fellowship.

My flights were very comfortable and smooth yesterday. The legion (3,000 to 6,000) of angels flying under each wing, that my mom prays for each time we travel, did their job perfectly.  Very little turbulence including smooth take-offs and landings.

On my first flight I sat next to a sweet old man who even offered me some of his chocolate. I kindly declined remembering my mother's "warning" to not talk to strangers. I thought accepting candy from them probably was included in that category.

I was so disappointed to see these two franchises during my layover in the Amsterdam airport. I'm sad to say, but these are not the only American companies that are thriving in Europe.

On the second flight from Amsterdam to Budapest I tried to sleep, but I was sitting in the aisle seat so there was no where to lean my head and I couldn't curl up like I usually like to. At the end of the flight I was very entertained watching two ~ 40 year old passengers flirt with one of the flight attendants, probably in her early twenties. I even heard them ask how long she would be staying in Budapest until she returned to Amsterdam. She seemed pretty into it, but I just felt so uncomfortable watching the whole thing.

On another note, my favorite part of flying is seeing the sky and God's creation from a completely unique perspective. There is nothing like experiencing the ground, sun, moon, clouds, stars and weather from high in the sky. Check out a little of what I saw (could capture) yesterday!

My window seat...YES!

Goodbye Detroit

I wish I could show you the stars and the moon on the overnight flight too, but cameras don't really do so well in those settings. So you will just have to imagine how clear Orion was and spectacular the moon was. Not sure if I just imagined it, but both looked bigger and more magnificent then when I stand on the ground.

Love you all.
Until next time.
